I’ve watched The Last Samurai several times in the last couple of months and it’s moved me to tears, even to wide open weeping, every time, not only at the end, but at various points throughout. It cracked my heart wide open and opened a pathway of expression for my grief about certain aspects of my own life at a time when outer circumstances were backing me into an emotional and psychological corner, and I’m thankful for that. I’m also thankful that, as a result of my need to find commentaries that would help me achieve a deeper comprehension of my response to this movie, I found this site.

I’ve felt so many layers and points of connection with this movie that I’m still not sure I’ve fully recognized and processed them all. I’ll be watching it again.
